December 1997, from the Empire State Building

This image is thanks to our Uncle Michael, Those days my family was considered tourists to the New York metro area because of our temporary residence in Atlanta. We would return to New York for the holidays, once again with camera. Thanks to my mother.

May 1993, from the harbour

This image was made possible by a trip out to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. My family, along with the families of the Charkins' and the Spence family took the ferry from Liberty State Park to see the sights. Fortunately we were with camera.

World Trade Center, Aerial postcard greetings.

I believe this emerged from my father's keepsakes. It's got to be an image from the earliest days, 1973 or so? Color photo by Port of New York Authority © 1973

Early days of the World Trade Center, 1977

I have my Dad to thank for this. While on a Hudson River cruise around Manhattan Dad got this excellent shot of the Twin Towers. The entire World Financial Center was yet to be constructed, won't be for another 8 years. Battery Park City was currently a land fill. Two other historical notes, the North Tower's iconic telecommunications antenna won't be added until 1978. Also on high-res inspection, the square object on 1 WTC was a 'Vote for Koch' banner. I found it amusing, considering the banner faced Jersey City.

From September 11th to 6 Months beyond.

Here is a quick preview of a constant theme in my photographic work. I've always been interested in the story behind an image. In 2002, I set out to locate some of the infamous photographic locations on the morning of September 11th. I did just that. In the following weeks I'll set out and re-photograph these scenes in 2011, Ten years later.
